Fun fact: About half way through lessons I decided I wanted to learn how to call. Unfortunately, it didn't make me immune to mistakes.

How I started: I started Square Dancing because of First Friday Funfest; however I remember how fun it was in grade school. Melissa and I were taking Line Dancing lessons from Lisa and she told us about the event, one time is all it took.

I've been at Liberty Mutual (you only pay for what you need) for 41 years! I'm an IT Engineering manager currently with Database Platforms. I volunteer my time helping The Quantum Universe team in their IT (all volunteers!). I love square dancing because of the friendships and the dancing! I'm a very Happy Hopper! I do social media for the Happy Hoppers and help other Mount Baker Council clubs with their media. I have two adult children and three grandchildren! I also am an avid gardener!

Square Dancing is my all-time favorite hobby! I love the team work aspect of it … for me every square is a new opportunity for a team of 8 to have a good time, support each other and share laughter. I also really enjoy being a part of the new dancer journey!

Square dancing is pure joy. It is an optimal blend of social, low impact physical, and challenging mental activity. Students and new dancers are immediately welcomed and within a short time of beginning, a feeling of community develops. Square dance attire is completely flexible, and the music is varied genres.
